Free Services Protect Email - Cnet.com
As we have focused a good part of our discussion this week on the transition from paper to electronic media for communicating, it was interesting to read an article from Cnet.com describing efforts taking place to further protect our email communication through some interesting means. As if out of a Mission:Impossible movie, Privnote.com offers the ability to send your email message through a link that erases the message after reading. Mailstore.com provides the ability to archive all email accounts, including Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook and POP3, among others. This allows us to keep a consolidated record of all our email communication we use for business, personal or otherwise. Lastly, in another attempt to protect us from spammers or "munging", hidetxt.net has created the option of transferring up to 100,000 characters within an email into a .gif image. The ideas all sound very interesting, but the extended effort only continues to make me consider that this new communication media takes as much effort to learn as it does to protect. Maybe the hand-written letter will be coming back...
Check it out and let me know your thoughts-
